太重煤机与全国各科研院所开展产、学、研、用合作，组建了“智能采矿装备技术全国重点实验室”、“中国现代采掘设备研究院”、“山西省冶金设备设计理论与技术重点实验室”、“山西省煤机行业技术中心”、“煤矿装备研究生教育创新中心”、“山西省金属轧制精整装备工程研究中心”、“矿山机械 CAE 工程技术中心”、太原市太重煤机院士工作站、“博士后科研工作站”等科研开发和创新平台。大力推动技术创新，企业科研开发与产品自主创新能力不断提高。
公司拥有较先进的信息化平台，能集成应用PDM、CAD、CAE、ERP、DNC、煤机云平台等系统，对产品设计、开发、生产、维护过程进行仿真、评估和优化，基本实现了产品开发、生产制造及管理数字化，保证了产品的质量、交货期、经济性，为数字化工厂，智能化生产提供支撑。公司现拥有有效专利190项，其中发明专利15项，实用新型专利172项外观设计专利2项，软件著作权1项。发表科研著作2本。

公司投资10亿元建设煤机工业园，园区占地750亩，新建厂房16万平方米，引进英国、 德国、日本等较先进的加工装备，拥有800（台）套高精尖机械加工设备，具有年产采 煤机200台、掘进机200台、液压支架2000 架的生产制造能力，是国内装备水平较高、 试验手段较齐全的煤机成套装备制造基地。主导产品采煤机的电控、液压、减速机、滚筒 四大核心部件全部在园区内自主生产配套。

公司设有中心试验室，拥有先进的金属材料理化分析设备、齿轮加工设备及其相应的检测手段。包括先进的激光跟踪 仪移动三坐标检测设备、 齿轮测量仪 、弧齿锥齿轮刀盘检查仪、倒置金相显微镜及软件评析系统、显微硬度机等设备。
公司产品试验设备完备，包括采煤机部件 ( 截割部、牵引部、减速机、 液压泵站、电控箱 ) 加载试验台、采煤机爬坡试验、 掘进机假岩壁截割试验台、“三机一架”成套工作面联动综合试验设备、低温装配机等。
